Looking For A Digital Camera

Yes Virginia, this is another recommendations post.

Since I’m going to be doing a lot of traveling this summer to places I’ve never been to before and want to share some of those memories with special people, I have decided to buy a digital camera. It doesn’t have to be fancy or have lots of bells-and-whistles; it just needs to take a really good picture that I would be proud to show to others. And I don’t want it to be too expensive either

So if you have a digital camera that you want to recommend, tell me all about it.

  1. You might want to look at the Nikon P50 which has a 28mm equivalent wiode-angle lens on it and should be well under $200. It was on special here in Montreal for $170 recently and a feww of my friends bought one on on my recommendation. Some Panasonic Lumix models and some Canon models have 28mm equivalent lens but they usually cost a fair bit more.

  2. I got my spouse and my daughter each a Nikon CoolPix L11 point-and-shoot camera last Christmas — it cost just under $100.00 and was easy enough to use. The software was easy to set up on my spouse’s Windows XP laptop. It works “out of the box” with my daughter’s Macbook and my Ubuntu Linux laptop (no additional software install required).

I got my Dad a Kodak EasyShare C713 for his 80th birthday — it also costs just under $100.00. The software was easy to set up on my Dad’s Windows XP desktop and it also works “out of the box” with my Ubuntu Linux laptop.

Hope this helps — good luck.
